Lift model identification & specifications.

Six families of Sumner material lifts cover everything from a 99 lb solo drywall lift to a 1,500 lb dual-winch industrial lift. This chapter is built so you can identify any unit from the floor of a jobsite and jump straight to the matching repair material.

Quick ID — what model is this? Look for the silver/yellow serial-data plate. It's typically on the outer mast (lower section, facing the operator) on 2000/2100/2400 series lifts, on the base frame for the Roust-A-Bout, and inside the head assembly on the 2300. The model number is printed top-left; record both the model and serial before ordering parts.
Series 2000

Material Lift — the workhorse.

The Series 2000 is the lift most technicians cut their teeth on. Four height variants (2010, 2015, 2020, 2025) share the same base, mast extrusion family, and Sumner-built winch. Capacity drops as height goes up: the short 2010 is the heavy hauler, the tall 2025 is the long-reach unit.

  • Models & Capacity2010: 1,000 lb · 2015: 800 lb · 2020: 800 lb · 2025: 650 lb
  • Lift Height (max)11′7″ / 16′2″ / 20′9″ / 25′5″
  • WinchSumner-built worm-drive (GH-5T legacy or MX current)
  • Cable7/32″ (5.5 mm) on MX-equipped current production
  • Cable RoutingInternal
  • Reversible ForksStandard

Common service items: winch ratchet pawl spring (intermittent slip), upper-mast cable sheave (cable fraying), lower-mast slide pads (mast bind on extension).

SERIES 2000
SERIES 2100 · FORKS REVERSED
Series 2100

Contractor Lift — the refinement.

The 2100 is essentially a Series 2000 with everything tightened up: cable runs are routed inside the mast (instead of along the side), the pulley guard is integrated, and the carriage tool-free assembles in seconds. Three height variants (2112, 2118, 2124). Outriggers ship standard with the 2118 and 2124.

  • Models2112 / 2118 / 2124
  • Capacity650 lb (294 kg) — same across the family
  • Lift Height (max)12′11″ / 18′4″ / 23′9″
  • Cable7/32″ (5.5 mm) — on Sumner MX winch
  • Casters5″ lockable polyurethane
  • Operating Width w/ Outriggers~74 in
  • Min. Drum Wraps4 (per Series 2100 operator's manual)

Common service items: internal cable abrasion (caused by misrouted cable on the second mast section), reversible-fork pivot pin wear, stabilizer-leg latch.

Series 2300

Drywall & HVAC Lift — the solo specialist.

Designed for one installer to set sheets of drywall, ceiling tile carriers, or small HVAC components overhead without a partner. The whole lift weighs 99 lb and breaks down for transport in a sedan trunk. The defining feature is the 65° tilting head, which lets you load a sheet of drywall flat and roll it into place against the ceiling.

  • Capacity150 lb
  • Lift Height11 ft 2¾ in (Std) · 14 ft 9¾ in (Tall)
  • Body Weight99 lb
  • Tilting Head0° – 65°
  • WinchTwo-speed hand crank

Common service items: tilt-head detent pin (drywall sheet won't lock flat), two-speed winch shifter, cradle padding (replaceable foam).

SERIES 2300 · 65° TILT
SERIES 2400 · 360° CABLE GUARD
Series 2400

Compact Contractor — built for the van.

The 2400 trades reach for footprint — a stowed envelope short enough to lay flat in a service van. The defining feature is 360° cable protection at the head: a ring of formed steel that shields the cable from getting snagged on rafters, conduit, or duct corners during overhead work. Capacity differs by model.

  • Models & Capacity2412: 400 lb · 2412G (galv): 400 lb · 2416: 450 lb
  • Lift Height (max)12′11″ (2412) / 16′11″ (2416)
  • Cable Protection360° head guard
  • Cable RoutingInternal
  • Min. Drum Wraps3 (per Series 2400 operator's manual)

Common service items: 360° guard alignment (off-center after a drop), reversible fork rollers, base axle bushing.

Eventer Series

Stage & AV Lift — the chameleon.

Same mechanical platform as the contractor lifts, but the mast is anodized matte black so it visually disappears against a stage or scrim. AV crews use Eventers to fly line-array speakers, lighting trusses, and projection screens. Three height variants — and as with the Series 2000, capacity drops as height increases.

  • Eventer 16500 lb · 16′11″ (PN 784760)
  • Eventer 20800 lb · 20′
  • Eventer 25650 lb · 25′
  • Mast FinishBlack anodized aluminum
  • Common AccessoryTruss adapter, pin-stop kit

Service note: the anodized finish scratches easily — use nylon-faced clamps when working on the mast and avoid solvents that strip anodizing.

LOAD MAST ROUST-A-BOUT · DUAL WINCH
Roust-A-Bout

Heavy Hitter — the dual-winch industrial.

The Roust-A-Bout is a different animal: twin parallel masts, a shared crossbeam carriage, and two independent winches — one for raising the load, one for extending the mast. That separation lets one operator move a 1,500 lb pipe section vertically and horizontally at the same time. 8″ casters give it the only Sumner platform designed to roll loaded.

  • R-1001,500 lb · 10′ · 32″ × 40″ base — fits a standard doorway
  • R-1501,500 lb · 15′ · 40″ × 40″ base (PN 780301)
  • R-2501,500 lb · 25′ · 40″ × 40″ base (PN 780303)
  • Winches2 × independent (load + mast)
  • Load Winch Speeds4-speed
  • Casters8″ rated for loaded movement

Common service items: 4-speed selector linkage, mast-winch synchronization (twin masts can drift if one cable stretches), caster axle bearings, crossbeam carriage rollers.

Doorway clearance: only the R-100 (32″ base) fits through a standard residential doorway. The R-150 and R-250 share a 40″ × 40″ base and require a wider passage.
